Grand Saline
Fire Department/ EMS

The Grand Saline Fire Department provides fire, rescue, medical services and prevention programs in a highly professional, responsive manner to protect the lives and property of those in the community.
The volunteer fire department has been in service since 1905.
In 1976,
the volunteer fire department took over the ambulance service. To this day the deparment provides the citizens with one 24/7 highly Advance ALS/ MICU unit. The second unit is a back-up on call ALS or BLS ambulance depending on the crew members that respond to Volunteer their time to make the backup emergency call if needed, the third unit is a reserve unit as a spare or can be place in active duty if need.
The Grand Saline EMS is one of few in the State Of Texas that is still operated by the Volunteer Fire Department.
In November of 2006, GSFD became an Emergency Services District to provide a more stable funding source for the department, In which allows the department to grow to help keep providing the highest level of service it provides for the community.
Our response district consists of a population of roughly 6,800 with 97 square miles. The department call volume runs little over 2,000 calls a year from all type of emergency calls. We also cover a small community west of the our district that we provide EMS coverage and automatic mutual aid for fire.
The GSFD roster usually contains somewhere between 25 and 35 firefighters and EMS personnel. We run out of Central station that home to a 24 hrs staff 24/7.
